As it turns out, civilization is anything but civilized .
"civilized" is one of those words that don't really do what the dictionary states. that one is mostly intended to dehumanize people who are excluded.
probably the biggest difference of that sort between dictionary definition and real meaning exists in current english with the term "t°rr°rist", especially in reference to individuals and groups rather than specific acts. according to the dictionary, it refers to someone who attacks civilians to spread fear for political goals, but its real meaning is a display of allegiance by whichever individual or organization is using the term. every usage case of that term is the author or speaker declaring that the individual or group so titled is a loathsome enemy of the author or speaker, whose existence as a political actor (not actually necessarily a violent one, but always a political one) is illegitimate and to be combatted by repressive means.
I really think this is clear enough that this meaning ought to be added to dictionaries as the primary definition, with the current official one becoming secondary. and it obviously warrants official categorization as a pejorative or slur, in most use cases. it's really very close in meaning in most cases to referring to people one hates as "animals" or specific animals, or various terms denoting criminality like "bandits" or "gangs", or something more vague like "vagabonds" or "barbarians". or any number of rac°al slurs. those don't really have much direct meaning either, they primarily imply that the speaker or author declares their opposition to and condemnation of those people.

I have seen quite a few posts by Arabs here in Germany that they will leave the country. But I think their subtext that this would punish Germany somehow is missing the point. Driving Arabs out of our society would be seen as a positive by the people. There's a reason Israel is working with the increasingly popular far right in Europe. The unfortunate bottom line is that this dehumanization of Arabs is a global issue, enforced by a significant portion of the world's economic powerhouses, so escaping that is at odds with one's economic well being.
The WEST has been demonizing Muslims and Muslim Countries for decades or NOW it seems CENTURIES.

the consequences of the dehumanization you are talking about are still being felt in the example of yugoslavia and the serbs, there and then everything started, all the western agenda and the last big rehearsal before general use. scratch that surface a little, all sorts of things will float out of the dirt.
It all started in Africa, and we still pay the price of this dehumanisation. As an African that has lived in the west, I know it so well. Why the hippe of hegemony, if not the belief that only one group of people is superior and has a right to take your life at their pleasure. What I don't understand and never understood is why we the majority let them treat us like this. I'm too old today and sad because I will take this question to my grave and never get the answer of why.
